Atal Innovation Mission Unveils National Winners Of The ATL Tinkering Marathon - 2019

https://www.ciotechoutlook.com/newsimages/special/74hLDT2X.jpegNITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog has declared the results of the flagship national annual innovation Marathon challenge – ATL Tinkering Marathon 2019, which was conducted in more than 5000 Atal Tinkering Labs in India. It announced the names of 150 winners. The challenge this year was implemented by AIM in collaboration with MyGOV on MyGOV’s Innovate Platform.
 
The central theme of the program was – ‘Research, Ideate, Innovate, Implement – Mindful Innovation for the greater good’. Designed by the students, the marathon this year had Phase-I. In that it integrated crowdsourcing of the platforms. The students faced it in the communities around them. Around 4300 entries were there!
 
The Phase-II was voting round for the shortlisted problem statements. Almost 5000+ votes were given, students selected the problems, aligned to them. The marathon focused on Research and Innovations.
 
There were four different problems shortlisted according Phase I and Phase II results. It enabled a Sustainable Environment and Justice, Outcome-Driven Quality Education, enhanced health and hygiene, and ensured Inclusivity and Equality. Students regarded this problem related to the community of their choice in one or more of the above four problem areas. They developed innovative solutions – working prototypes, minimum viable product (MVP).
 
Receiving 1191+ entries in the final phase of solution development, from students from 29 states and union territories of India, the evaluation had 150 teams in selection. Winning teams – 42 percent came from rural areas, 57 percent from government schools, 45 percent were girl students.
 
The winning teams are offered several awards to take innovative solutions in real-world and present those before national-level platforms.
 
150 teams announcement was done by innovation virtual event sparkling in presence of AIM’s partners from the government and private sector - Abhishek Singh, CEO, MyGov, Sandip Patel, General Manager of IBM India/South Asia and Managing Director of IBM India, B. Rudramani, Vice President, R&D, Dell Technologies Shanmugh Natarajan, Vice President, Creative Cloud Product, Adobe India, Rama Devi, Chairperson, AIC ALEAP We-Hub and Snehal Shetty, COO, AIC Amrita TBI.
 
R Ramanan, Mission Director, AIM, said, “The ATL Tinkering Marathon has become a much looked for event by all ATL students, as it provides them with a unique opportunity to exercise their imagination and creative potential. This year a different approach was adopted wherein we wanted the next-generation to themselves think and identify the problems worth solving.” He continued, “Your innovation journey has only begun. You have done the necessary research, you have ideated, you have created an innovation. Now the journey is about how to convert that innovation into a market-ready product. We complement each one of you and ask you to remain inspired for the journey ahead – regardless of winning the competition or not.”
 
Ramanan thanked the partners and stated that it was only due to the partnership with various government and private organizations, it was possible. He also stated that the partners will help AIM, NITI Aayog for undertaking the exposure activity of the 150 teams to advanced levels of innovation and entrepreneurship.
 
MyGov CEO Abhishek Singh congratulated the winning teams and said, It’s not only about winning the Marathon. Running a Marathon is as important as winning it. I would also want to congratulate all those who contributed to the crowdsourcing of ideas, in voting, and all other stages of the Marathon. I also congratulate the entire team of AIM for doing such a great job. Every step of this Marathon was important to create a culture of innovation across the country.”
 
With a mix of opportunities in awards for the winning teams, to hone their prototypes, collaboration with AIM’s partners, including Student Innovator Program with Atal Incubation Centers, Student Internship Programs with IBM, Digital Internship Program with Adobe, all-girl teams will be getting the exclusive chance to refine their ideas under Dell Technologies guidance.
